On February 28, 2008 our father, grandfather, and friend Darrell F. Pehrson, age 83, passed peacefully from this life to the next surrounded by the family he loved.
He was born to Alexander J. Pehrson and Lula V. Parks Pehrson on January 28, 1925 in Pocatello, Idaho. He served his country with honor in the Marine Corps during World War II and while on leave he married his sweetheart Dorothy Vanderlinden in the Salt Lake Temple, September 2, 1943.
He loved sports and gave many hours of dedicated service to the youth programs of his community in Murray, Utah. He also served on the Murray City Board of Adjustments. In 1995 he was honored for his years of community service by receiving a “Star” of the Community Award from Murray City. Anything he chose to do he gave his heart to and did to perfection. His tool sheds were impeccably organized and his flower and vegetable gardens were extraordinarily beautiful. He received a Beautification Award from Murray City in 1991. He shared his talents through helping others with various projects over the years and he shared his beautiful flowers and vegetables with everyone. During his years employed at Stevens-Brown Sporting Goods the shipping and receiving department he managed was in perfect order. He was a wonderful example to everyone as a dedicated and greatly appreciated employee.
He loved his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life and he kept an ample supply of cookies and candy on hand just for them. His last words to us were to love, watch over, and care for one another.
He is survived by two sons, Darrell (Cindy) and Alan (Kathryn); daughter-in-law Sherrie and son-in-law Delmas Anderson; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie, Carol and Betty; and one brother Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Vanderlinden; two daughters, Marsha and Sandra; one son Gary; his father and mother, Alexander J. and Lula V. Parks Pehrson; four brothers, Joe, Don, Max, and Orbit; one sister Connie.
